Can’t tell you how many times we’ve driven by the Eagles Stadium just outside of Philadelphia. Not sure when exactly the installation was done, but still one of our favorite examples of Solar PV and wind power combined within the overall stadium concept. The panels sit mostly horizontally on the façade, not unlike the Colorado Court Solar PV, but capping off the solar, a whole host of vertical axis wind turbines ring the rim of the upper bleacher seats. Very cool, no pun intended. Eye catching and interesting to drive past. Way to go Philly, way to go Eagles, one of our all time favs for building integrated photovoltaics… although technically it would be building integrated renewable energy, wind and solar.
If you want to read some of the past news on the project, we feel that UPenn is a pretty reliable source, Philadelphia Eagles Go Green With Renewable Energy. Seems that not too long ago the wind turbines were taken down for repairs, and The Eagles are deciding whether or not to put them back up or if there's a newer better technology, according to NBC.
